Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly decided to part ways with forward Usman Garuba. The 21-year-old was the 23rd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, selected by the Houston Rockets.

"I'm determined to prove my doubters wrong. Remember my words," Garuba asserted upon learning of his release. A native of Madrid, Spain, he previously played for Real Madrid Baloncesto in both Liga ACB and EuroLeague from 2017 to 2021.

At the young age of 17 in 2019, Garuba made history as the youngest starter in Real Madrid's lineup. In the 2020-21 Liga ACB season, he contributed across 36 games, averaging 5.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 18.7 minutes per match.

He maintained shooting percentages of 46.1% from the field, 33.8% from beyond the arc, and 67.6% from the free-throw line. In 2021, the 6-foot-8 wing garnered recognition as the EuroLeague Rising Star and ACB Best Young Player.
